Sean and staff take private tours throughout the West Pier and Howth harbour. Coming from a long line of fishermen, we have working trawlers which fish the daily catch in Irish waters. Dorans Seafood supplies fishmongers and restaurants with the best of Irish fish and seafood. We have a strong, proud connection to Howth and the surrounding area.

Howth is 40 minutes by DART train from Dublin city centre. You can sail to Howth with Dublin Bay Cruises or drive the beautiful coast road to Howth peninsula.

WHERE DO WE MEET?

You would meet at THE OAR HOUSE RESTAURANT, 8 West Pier, Howth for the start of the tour. You may use the facilities at the restaurant. The tour takes place next door to the Oar House and throughout the village. Lunch is included here after the tour.

WHEN?

The time will be arranged when you make your booking. All tours are tailored to the group and personalised with your interests and preferences taken into account. The tour will take approximately 1.5-2 hours with lunch at The Oar House AFTER the tour.

WHAT’S INVOLVED?

Class will take place next door at the fisherman’s hideaway. Here you will see old fishing tools, maps, navigational instruments and enjoy a hands on experience with the skipper. Weather permitting we will visit the trawlers moored in Howth harbour. There will be plenty of activity in Howth as it is a working harbour. You will see lobster pots, crab pots, seals swimming,lots of wildlife and can ask questions.

IS IT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN?

Yes. Families of all ages are welcome. The tour will be tailored to the age, size and interests of the group. We also welcome troops of scouts, after school clubs, GAA clubs and any families looking to educate children in a fun environment.

IS THIS GOOD FOR STUDENTS?

Yes. This tour would be suitable for chefs or anyone from a culinary training POV. You can learn to gut fish, shuck an oyster, how to prepare shellfish. You can learn how to identify different species and with a wealth of local knowledge Sean and the team will give you tips and secrets to seafood success. We own and manage a number of fishmongers and popular seafood restaurants throughout Dublin and know everything there is to know about cooking seafood.
